Can the hotbin be used exclsively for cooked food waste, i.e after dinner leftovers etc, I use the 3 bay composting

I use the 3 bay composting for veg peelings, cardboard/paper, grass clippings, and all other waste from veg gardening.

I am afraid not. In order to get the heat in to the Hotbin and get it working at its best you need to add kitchen food waste, garden waste and carbon waste (cardboard, paper, leaves etc). It is the mix of carbon and nitrogen that creates the heat and the food waste is nitrogen only so no heat will build up on its own. It will also get smelly
