Hi Martin. So if you fill the Hotbin one third full with your existing waste from your compost bin. Then the next third fill gradually with fresh kitchen and garden waste. Build this up to two thirds full and then fill the final third with your existing waste. After about 2 weeks mix it all up with the prong provided. It will have gone down at that stage by about a third and continue to fill again with fresh kitchen and garden waste. It will have good heat in it by then and work perfectly going forward
