Do mice ever get in to the drum via the ventilation holes?

Not really possible and we have never come across it. The unit is on a frame that would be very hard to climb but even if they did they would then not be able to get across to the barrel and then certainly not across to the ventilation holes. Also the ventilation holes are very tight
