In our opinion the optimal size of a bed is 1.8m x 1.2m. The reason. Easy to access from both sides and you don't have to make a long journey each time you want to tend the far side of the bed. Best height is 35cm as any crop including potatoes and parsnips/carrots can be grown in this depth of soil. However if it was just Tomatoes, Cucumber and maybe salads and herbs you were growing you could go with a 22.5cm deep bed. It just might limit you in the future
