Yes it would need a pollinator. Good partners would be Discovery or James grieve.

No i am afraid it is not a self pollinator so yes you would need another tree in a different grouping. Not one of the same variety. However you can put in a crab apple and it will pollinate across all of the groups. That said it is likely that there are other apple trees in your area so you might be fine
