For a family of 2 adults 2 kids and a decent sized garden i would recommend the JK270. For a smaller family with a small garden the JK125 but a lot of this depends on how busy of a kitchen and garden you run. You will never regret having more composting ability than you need so i normally recommend the JK270 as it is also better value for the amount of compost produced
