To Chit or not to Chit?
Homeguard First Early Potato
First Earlies
Hi Team Quickcrop
So I have left it late! I have belatedly decided to grow first early potatoes again this year. I normally chit from Jan and plant this week. I really want to have the crop as early as possible. So am I better to forego chitting altogether this year and just get them in the ground and accept a lower yield? If I chit for only 2-3 weeks, would that be any help? Thanks in advance!

Hi there. Thank you for your question. Chitting won't affect the yield fo your potatoes, it will just bring forward the harvest time by a couple of weeks. If conditions are favourable, I would be inclined to get them in the ground but if the ground is still wet (it is around here) you can chit them until things improve.
