Hi there, thank you for your question. The soaker hoses should either be tuned on and off manually for the time period required or should be used on a timer. I would recommend a timer as it is the easiest way to manage the system and is more economical as you can turn the system on at dawn which allows water to soak into the soil without evaporating which it will do if used in the heat of the day.
