Squash tends to self regulate and drop or hold fruit depending on water and nutrient availability. I find for a reasonable size 'Crown Prince', I would expect 3-4 fruit per plant in good conditions. You can regulate the fruit yourself to 3 or 4, the fewer the fruit you leave, the larger they will be.
