Hi There
If the compost is wet, it may be the case that you don't have enough carbon based material (cardboard etc...) to balance the kitchen waste. I would advise adding extra shredded cardboard to see if this helps. I don't know if you have a lawn but a few alternate layers of shredded cardboard and grass clippings will heat up the unit pretty quickly.
